Hair Care Myths BUSTED!

You put a lot of effort into styling your hair and making it look its best. Chances are, if youre reading this blog, you also spend a lot of time learning about hair growth, hair restoration, how to prevent hair loss and how to keep it healthy. There are countless websites and articles claiming to have the solutionfor flawless hair. Yet, how can you differentiate fact from fiction? Weve done the research for you and are busting some of the most common hair care myths.

Myth: Color treating your hair will cause damage

Truth: When you go darker and add color to your hair, it actually increases the appearance of thickness and volume.  However, avoid bleaching which can make each strand thinner and more prone to breakage.

Myth: Frequent hair cuts make your hair grow faster

Truth: Damaged ends make your hair look thinner and cause breakage.  When you cut them off, your hair appears fuller.  While trimming your hair doesnt affect the rate of its growth, experts recommend trimming it every 6 to 8 weeks.

Myth: Towel drying your hair is best

Truth: Rubbing your hair with a towel can take its toll on your hair, promoting breakage.  We recommend squeezing your hair with a towel, then combing it gently to remove excess water.

Myth: Plucking a gray hair will make two grow back in its place

Truth: Over time your hair will become weaker if its plucked too much over time.  Additional grays will appear with age, regardless of plucking them or not.

Myth: Wearing hats causes hair loss

Truth: Male pattern baldness is caused by genetics.  It is triggered by high testosterone and stress levels as well.

When it comes to hair care, focus on the quality of care by committing to products and tips that are backed by research and provide proven results.

Hello, I would love some professional advice for my thinning hair. I’m a 61 (next month) yr young woman. I’m experiencing thinning of my hair. It’s always been thin most of my life. But this last year it’s been shedding more. I can see more if my SCALP! I did experienced MORE STRESS the last 11 months. I’ve been told that Castor Oil is great for hair growth. Is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Roberta Elkins
